Anthony Pendleton is a legendary basketball player and proud graduate of Flint Northwestern. Better known by his nickname “Yankee”, was a two time All-City, All-Valley and All-State selection in basketball.

His greatness on the court was recognized almost immediately and he became the first basketball player in Flint-area history to start every game from his freshman season through his senior year. In Anthony’s four seasons playing for the Wildcats, he only lost a total of five regular season games. Anthony was a part of the Flint Northwestern basketball dynasty of the 1980s and was an important piece of the team that won the State Championship in 1984 and 1985. In Anthony’s senior year he became the team’s primary scorer and was able to continue to showcase his elite quickness and great jump shot. In 1986, he earned many honors, including being named to The Detroit News’” Dream Team,” the Parade All-American team and the McDonald’s All-American Team.

During his career at Flint Northwestern, he never lost a Saginaw Valley Conference game, and he helped the team win a league record 40 straight games. Pendleton averaged 22.3 points per game in his senior season and finished his high school career with 1,389 total points scored.  Anthony then took his talents to the University of Iowa to play basketball for legendary coach George Raveling. When Raveling took the head coaching job at the University of Southern California, he transferred to USC to continue to play for his coach. In two seasons at USC, he scored a total of 638 points, dished out 99 assists and had 38 total steals. Anthony also set a USC school record for most three pointers made in a single season.
