Category: Basketball/Football

Bill Harris is a proud graduate of Flint Hamady High School where he dominated in athletics and was All-State in both basketball and football.

On the football field Bill was a three-year starter at the quarterback position for Hamady’s football team and once scored a 100-yard punt return touchdown in a game against Bendle.

On the basketball court, he became one of the best guards in the Flint area and was Hamady’s leading scorer in his sophomore, junior and senior season. This helped Bill earn a scholarship to play basketball at Northern Michigan University.

At Northern Michigan, he made an impact in his freshman season scoring 15 points in a game against the University of Michigan.  He went on to become Northern Michigan’s all-time leading scorer with 2,224 points scored.

Bill also set the school record for points in a single season with 763 points scored and made 117 three pointers in his college career.  One of Bill’s best performances while playing for Northern Michigan took place in a game against North Dakota State in the 1986-87 season.  That game he scored 48 points and made 9 three pointers.

In his collegiate career, Bill also scored 34 points against Michigan Tech and had a 22-point performance against the University of Michigan basketball team during his junior season.

Bill continued his basketball career professionally and played 11 years in Holland, Poland and Milan.
