The 1980 Flint Beecher Women’s Basketball team includes Cassandra Jones, Renee Harmon, Rhonda Arthur, Kim McClain, Kim Day, Melody Bridges, Rhonda Jackson, Shawn Jones, Margie Randle, Daphne Dixon, Diana Wiley, Tina Summers, Antionetta Williams, Faye Cotton, and Shelly Sparks. The Lady Bucs were led by head coach Dave Hollingsworth with help from assistant Bob Sunday and team manager Deidre Steele.

In 1980, after suffering defeats in the final round of the Class B state tournament the previous two seasons, the Lady Bucs finished the regular season with a 18-2 record. They were 14-0 in the Big Nine conference and won their third straight league championship. 

Coach Hollingsworth instilled in the players that every time they put on that Flint Beecher uniform, they represented their family, their school and their community. In 1980, the Flint Beecher Lady Bucs represented well in the Class B state championship game and overcame previous years losses to defeat Livonia 44-35 to win the first state championship in the program’s history.
