Evette Ott was a two-time All-City, All-Valley and All-State selection while playing basketball for the Flint Northern Lady Vikings. She played a big part in the Lady Vikings basketball dynasty that won multiple State Championships. In 1980 and 1981, she was a key contributor on the court, helping Flint Northern Women’s Basketball Team win two State Championships. On the road to the 1981 State Championship, Evette helped Flint Northern achieve an upset victory over Saginaw in the district final and an overtime victory over Midland in regionals.  

In Evette’s senior season, she helped lead Flint Northern Lady Vikings to a 25-2 record. After a quarterfinal win in the Class A state tournament Evette was named Prep Player of the Week by the Flint Journal, an honor that she earned multiple times in her career. In the 1982 quarterfinal win she scored 20 points, had eight assists and eight rebounds.  

Evette continued her academic and athletic career at the University of Kansas. While at Kansas she scored a career total of 705 points, dished out 245 total assists and grabbed 192 total rebounds for the Jayhawks. In 1993, she joined the Women’s Basketball Association league and averaged 22 points per game in her first season with the Kansas Crusaders.
